The 3-day staging of “Tat Nenas” in August will not only be for the qualification to the Malaysian Theatre Festival, but also to showcase the piece in a full fledged production.

“Tat Nenas”,written by Shahredza Minhat, had shown potential since it was first staged in Multimedia University, 2001. Realizing this potential, AROMA THEATREWORKS, with the help of FUZZY LOGIC ENTERTAINMENT decided to bring forth the piece to a bigger theatre community through the platform of the Selangor and Kuala Lumpur Theatre Festivals. Since 2002, this piece earned the AROMA group numerous awards, which include:

Selangor Theatre Festival 2002:
First Runner-up
Best Actor Award
Best Set & Technical Award

Kuala Lumpur Theatre Festival 2004:
First Place
Best Director Award
Best Actor Award
Best Supporting Actress Award
Best Set & Technical Award

Thus, we believe this piece is not only ready to be staged in front of a paying audience, but ultimately a place for a run at Istana Budaya slated for October.

This tale revolves around the dealings of four obsessive characters within the span of two days. There’s Bijou, the artist whose works of art are based upon her hatred on the very idea of love. The character Juwita, ever devoted to finding her true love, embodies the opposite to Bijou’s cynical view of love. The character Awan however, despite his lack of direction in life, surprisingly found his true love (Juwita), but unfortunately he is constantly disappointed by her rejections. Lurking within the shadows is the ever-present Pak Leh, always scheming his way to wealth and power. This stasis is broken when Bijou finally found her ultimate form of expression, in the form of the pineapple tart. The plot thickens as each of the other characters got to know of Bijou’s “masterpiece”, bringing all of the characters together and in the process reveal their deepest secrets….
